On the Psychology of Ravenclaw Traits
The Harry Potter franchise is hugecording to JK Rowling’s site Pottermore, over half a billion Harry Potter books have been sold worldwide.
Readers are immersed in the wizarding life inside of Hogwarts School for Witchcraft and Wizardry, where pupils start their journey by being sorted into one of four houses: Hufflepuff, Gryffindor, Ravenclaw and Slytherin. Each house boasts their own traditions, values, and characteristics, modelled after one of the four founders of the school.
It’s irresistible for the reader to wonder to which house they would be assigned if they were presented with their Hogwarts letter at age 11. What Traits Describe a Ravenclaw?
Ravenclaws are the Hogwarts intellectuals, the dreamers. They are known for creativity, wisdom, and acceptance.
Ravenclaws are seen as clever. Many also exhibit the traits of being disciplined and dependable. New ideas are a source of energy, intellectual curiosity and imagination characterize a typical Ravenclaw. As such, Ravenclaws tend to have a wide and surprising range of interests.
What Kind of Ravenclaw Are You?
Not every Ravenclaw is the same. Some are outgoing and flamboyant (ex. Gilderoy Lockhart) and some are more comfortable alone with their thoughts (ex. Luna Lovegood). These two characters differ in their extroversion. Extroversion is one of the Big Five personality traits, and it describes outgoingness and drawing energy from being around other people. Ravenclaws have all the above traits, but can differ in how extroverted they are. So – are you a Gilderoy or a Luna?
So, which kind of Ravenclaw are you?
